Indigenously-Rooted native plant nursery and cultural space in Willits

What We Are

Indigenously-Rooted is more than a nursery. It is a living cultural space where Indigenous people can reconnect with their heritage, where elders share traditional knowledge, where families access free food, where people in recovery heal through land-based work, and where the broader community is welcome to learn and participate in a good way. We believe that everyone deserves access to their culture, and this space exists as an invitation to root yourself in the land, in community, and in the healing power of native plants.

Who We Serve

Indigenously-Rooted exists for all Indigenous peoples of Mendocino County—including all tribes of the region, Indigenous people living off tribal land, elders carrying traditional knowledge, youth reconnecting with their heritage, people in recovery seeking healing through land-based work, and the broader community who wish to learn and participate in a good way.

We believe in radical inclusivity rooted in respect. Everyone is welcome here—if you come in a good way, seeking to learn, contribute, and honor the land and each other, you belong at Indigenously-Rooted.

Ancestral roots in the hills of Mendocino County

We are deeply rooted in the hills of Mendocino County, a region rich with ancestral heritage and ecological significance. Our commitment extends beyond commerce—we are dedicated to understanding and honoring the land's history, supporting Indigenous knowledge systems, and fostering community well-being.

By cultivating native plants, we participate in the long tradition of land stewardship that shapes this region. Every plant we grow carries the potential to restore ecosystems, support local communities, and deepen our collective connection to the California landscape.

Land, Impact & Care Practices

Education and stewardship form the heart of our work. We believe that understanding our impact on the land is the first step toward meaningful restoration and community well-being.

Understanding Our Impact

Every choice we make affects the ecosystems around us. Through education and awareness, we help you understand how native plants support biodiversity, sequester carbon, and strengthen the resilience of California's natural systems. Knowledge is the foundation of stewardship.

Plant-Care for Restoration

Proper plant care is essential for restoration success. We share techniques for watering, soil amendment, and seasonal care that honor both the plant's native needs and the land's healing. Our guidance supports long-term ecosystem recovery and plant establishment.

Community & Well-Being

True environmental protection happens at the community level. We collaborate with neighbors, Indigenous communities, and conservation partners to create landscapes that nourish both people and ecosystems. Together, we build a more resilient and connected future.
